Amazon’s Multi-Channel Fulfillment offers sellers a chance to utilize fast, reliable fulfillment, regardless of whether or not they sell on Amazon. Multi-Channel Fulfilment, or MCF, fulfills order to any customer on any sales channel with Prime-like delivery speed. This allows businesses of all sizes to use Amazon’s fulfillment centers and logistics network to power ecommerce fulfillment.
“We really want to provide the flexibility to any business that wants to come use the power of Amazon,” says Abhi Tiwari, Director, Product Management and Technology.
With MCF, sellers can ensure on-time delivery, with orders as fast as one-day delivery. The network control automatically adjusts to handle weather events and automatically does carrier selection to meet customer promise. Deliveries are made seven days a week across the world.
Tiwari gave a breakdown on how MCF works. A seller sends inventory to Amazon. MCF receives and stores the inventory. All inventory is still owned by the seller, who pays a storage fee. When a customer orders a product on any sales channel, MCF packs and ships the order. A tracking number is provided, and customers know when their items have shipped.
During the session, the importance of fulfillment in customer experience is addressed and how this can mean more customer loyalty. It’s no surprise that customers expect fast delivery. After placing an order, the real experience is ensuring there is accurate tracking and that an order is received on-time.
MCF also handles sellers of all sizes. “There’s really no threshold at all that anyone wanting to use MCF needs to meet,” says Louise Ryan, Business Development, UK. Businesses can integrate MCF by utilizing developer-friendly APIs, applications on ecommerce stores and integrating order management software.
Tiwari says utilizing MCF can help businesses save time and money. It also can provide customer trust. Businesses can let customers know their order is going to be fulfilled by Amazon and even display a badge on their website so customers know that Amazon is fulfilling the order.
“The thing that Amazon is really good at is fulfillment and supply chain,” says Tiwari.
