Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba told investors that Brazil will be an important part of its global expansion. The online marketplace AliExpress will be targeting Brazilian customers causing a direct competition for all other Marketplaces in Brazil.
Over the last 10 years, Chinese products have become available everywhere in the country and Brazilians have gotten used to buying them. Trade between Brazil and China has increased tenfold, which has been good for AliExpress. Its Portuguese language website in Brazil had 12 million visitors in July- triple the number of visitors to eBay.
