Linnworks vs. Rithum for marketplace sellers

Expanding across new marketplaces should drive growth, not add to your technical debt. When searching for a way to scale without the operational overhead, two names lead the conversation: Linnworks and Rithum.

Linnworks started in 2005 as a multichannel operations platform that connects sales channels (like Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify, and TikTok Shop) into one workflow. In 2022, they acquired SkuVault, adding native warehouse management to the platform. That means Linnworks manages inventory, orders, and warehouses from one place.

Rithum formed in December 2023 when CommerceHub, ChannelAdvisor, and Dsco combined under one name. It’s built around listing optimization, marketplace advertising, and a dropship network that connects brands to large retail partners.

Rithum is built for brands managing listings and advertising across a large network of marketplaces and retail partners, often through dropship arrangements.

If maximizing marketplace listings and ad spend at scale is the job, that’s what Rithum was built to do.

Linnworks is built for running the operation behind the sale.

It connects to your channels, keeps stock synced, and gets orders shipped without adding headcount.

Where Rithum’s strength is listings and advertising, Linnworks covers inventory accuracy, order automation, and native warehouse management from one system.

Because Linnworks runs inventory, orders, and warehouses together, a sale on any channel updates stock everywhere else and gets routed to a carrier without a manual handoff. Each marketplace you add brings in revenue without adding a new dashboard for someone to manage.

Channel coverage and listing control

Linnworks connects to 100+ marketplaces and sales channels, including the fastest-growing ones like TikTok Shop, Shein, and Temu. Adding more channels doesn’t increase your plan’s cost, and most integrations are free to install and take minutes to set up.

For the channels where Linnworks manages listings directly, you can update pricing, descriptions, and photos from one dashboard, in bulk or per SKU, instead of logging into each marketplace separately to make a change.

Rithum’s channel reach is built for product feed optimization, refining the titles, prices, images, and stock data sent to each marketplace, and paid marketplace advertising for brands running large retail networks.

If digital advertising across marketplaces is what you’re looking for, Rithum can help you with that. If your bottleneck is getting stock counts right and orders out the door, Linnworks solves that need.

What happens after checkout

In Linnworks, the order pulls from whichever channel it came from, alongside every other order across every channel you sell on.

Stock deducts from your central inventory count immediately, so the next shopper looking at that SKU anywhere sees the real number, not a stale one.

The Rules Engine takes it from there.

It routes the order to the right warehouse or 3PL and assigns a carrier based on criteria you set, like destination, weight, or service level. Spoltight AI will even tell you which rules to set based on your repetitive actions.

At the warehouse, digital pick lists replace paper, and wave picking batches orders for efficiency, so a picker clears orders in a logical progression rather than needing to waste time backtracking to pick items from the same aisle for different orders.

Rithum’s order management has automated routing. It sends orders to a fulfillment location you’ve defined, your own warehouse, a 3PL, FBA, or Walmart Fulfillment Services, based on rules you set.

A key difference: Rithum doesn’t address carrier assignment or picking workflow. Linnworks carries the same order from that routing decision through carrier assignment to the pick list a warehouse worker is holding, in one system.

More channels means more places for stock counts to drift

The Linnworks 2026 State of Commerce Operations report surveyed 500 retailers across the US and UK, and found the average ecommerce business now sells across 4.2 channels. And those with broader channel coverage saw stronger revenue growth in the previous 12 months.

However, channel count alone doesn’t guarantee success.

Retailers selling across four or more channels report pronounced inventory visibility challenges, and the report points to disconnected systems, not the number of channels, as the actual cause.

Linnworks keeps one stock number and pushes it to every channel the moment a sale lands, so what a customer sees matches what’s on the shelf.

You can set a buffer per channel to hold back stock on a fast-moving SKU while marketplaces catch up, and everything across your warehouses and 3PLs sits in one view.

Rithum syncs inventory across connected marketplaces natively as well, pushing updates as sales and returns happen.

Where the two part ways is warehouse-level accuracy: getting that number right in the first place still depends on whatever system tracks physical stock, and for Rithum that’s typically a separate WMS rather than a module in the core platform.

Support and onboarding

Linnworks offers chat, phone, and email support, and G2 reviewers rate it 8.1 on quality of support. Rithum’s support runs primarily through email, with a 7.3 score on the same measure, and users report multi-day response times aren’t unusual.

Onboarding follows the same pattern.

Linnworks can get a retailer fully live in as few as 40 days.

Some Rithum reviewers cite six months or longer before they’re running at full capacity.

If your team can’t wait out a multi-month go-live while still filling orders on the old setup, that gap matters more than any single feature.

Who is Rithum built for?

If marketplace advertising and feed optimization across a dropshipping network are what drive your growth, Rithum can be the right call.

But if what’s actually costing you money is stock drift, manual order routing, or an ops team that’s maxed out on order volume, Linnworks is the operations platform you need.

Match the platform to your bottleneck

If your growth depends on adding channels, keeping stock accurate across all of them, and fulfilling orders without hiring to keep pace, Linnworks is the solution for you.

Its channel coverage and built-in automation do that work from one system instead of three.

Before you commit to either Linnworks or Rithum, list your top three priorities for the next 12 months, whether that’s marketplace expansion, ad spend efficiency, or inventory accuracy, and bring that list to a demo. It’s the fastest way to see which platform actually delivers against it.

FAQ

What are the best Rithum alternatives?

The best Rithum alternative depends on why Rithum isn’t working for you. If your bottleneck is inventory accuracy, order routing, and warehouse management, an operations platform like Linnworks is the better match. If your growth depends on marketplace advertising and product feed optimization at scale, Rithum’s own specialization is hard to replace directly. The right alternative depends on whether you’re trying to fix your operations or your marketing.

Is Rithum the same as ChannelAdvisor?

Yes, in practice. CommerceHub, ChannelAdvisor, and Dsco combined under the Rithum name in December 2023, and ChannelAdvisor’s listing and advertising tools now run under that brand. Reviewers and search results still use the names interchangeably, which is why “Rithum” and “ChannelAdvisor” both turn up when sellers look for alternatives.

Does Rithum include warehouse and shipping management?

Rithum offers carrier rate comparison and label management, but warehouse execution runs through a partner integration like SkuVault rather than a built-in module. Linnworks builds shipping, with 70+ carriers, and warehouse management into the core platform, so there’s no separate WMS to configure or pay for on top.

Is Rithum a good fit for smaller multichannel sellers?

Rithum targets large, enterprise-scale brands, and its pricing and onboarding reflect that scale. Fast-growing and agile multichannel retailers who need channel coverage, inventory accuracy, and order management without a multi-month rollout usually find an operations-first platform like Linnworks closer to where they are.

How is Rithum priced?

Rithum uses custom, quote-based pricing built around your channel count and advertising needs, without published rates. Because it’s positioned toward larger retail operations, the entry point tends to run higher than platforms built for growing multichannel sellers.

Can Linnworks manage Amazon FBA?

Yes. Linnworks syncs your FBA inventory, tracks FBA orders from placement to shipment, and manages inbound shipments to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, so you’re not chasing Seller Central separately. You can also route non-Amazon orders to Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment for faster dispatch. FBA stock sits in the same view as your own warehouses and other 3PLs, so you always know what’s available and where it is.

Does Linnworks work for sellers who also run marketplace advertising?

Linnworks isn’t an advertising platform, and it doesn’t manage ad spend or sponsored listings the way Rithum does. Most Linnworks sellers run their marketplace advertising through a separate tool or the channel’s own ad console, and use Linnworks underneath to keep the inventory and fulfillment accurate no matter how much traffic the ads bring in.
