Linnworks does not run natively on Mac OS, meaning that you need to install a Windows Operating System on your Mac in order to successfully use Linnworks. There are a couple of options here: 

Bootcamp - Partitions your hard drive and installs Windows on that part. This method requires you to shut down your Mac OS and select the Windows partition when you reboot the system each time you want to access your Windows OS. Full instructions can be found on the Apple website for installing Windows via Bootcamp and your Mac should come with the necessary disks to install certain Bootcamp files.

Virtual Machine - The other method is to install a virtual machine (VM). This means that you can essentially run Windows in a separate window, much like any other application, directly from your Mac OS. This has advantages over Bootcamp as you can access the files on your Mac and Windows at the same time, with certain VM’s allowing you to actually desktops across the two operating systems. This is the method that this documentation will go through, using Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac.

Installation

Firstly, install Parallels on your Mac. Full information and documentation for installing Parallels can be found on their website. 

Once this has been done you will need to add a new Virtual Machine to Parallels. To do this launch Parallels Desktop and select File > New

From the New Virtual Machine screen select Install Windows from DVD or image file

Either insert the Windows installation disk or select the ISO file from the drop down menu then select Continue.

Leave Express installation ticked and add the product key if necessary. Hit Continue again.

The next choice allows you to decide whether you want your Windows program to work like a Mac or like a PC. If you select ‘Like a Mac’ then Windows programs will appear without the Windows desktop and your documents, music and pictures are shared across the two Operating Systems. If you choose ‘Like a PC’ then the Windows desktop will keep all of your Windows applications together, but you can still drag, drop and copy between the two operating systems.

After this you simply need to follow the standard Windows installation process. You can launch the Windows partition by running the desktop icon that is created on your Mac OS and then simply installing Windows as usual through here. As you are running Linnworks in a Windows environment still, everything works as normal and there are no compatibility issues that we have seen.

Coherence Mode

Coherence mode allows you to run your Windows applications in the Mac OS environment, without having to view the Windows Desktop. The applications are run in their own window in Mac OS and you can even pin your Windows Start Menu to your Mac OS taskbar. This also lets you use multiple monitor efficiently, by having a mixture of Mac OS and Windows applications running across multiple screens.

Coherence mode can be switched on by first starting the Windows Virtual Machine and then going to View >> Enter Coherence.
