Variations

Overview
Within Linnworks, Variation Groups define the ability to create single listings for groups of related items. One example of this would be clothing - A T-Shirt can be bought in a range of colours (Red, White, Green and Blue) and sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL). This results in 24 unique products.

With a Variation Group/Variation Listing, the customer sees 1 listing, not 24, and can select the precise shirt he/she would like. If a particular shirt is not available, the listing simply prevents that combination from being selected once the inventory levels are updated. Not all selling channels support variation listings, but many do. Some support only Variation listings with one option, eg size or colour; whilst others support multiple options.

Variation listings are made up of standard Inventory SKUs (Variation Children), which are added to a group under a Variation Parent that contains information for listing that is common to all the Variation Children. The Variation Parent is listed, rather than the individual Children to produce one listing that inherits the properties of all the Child products.

Child SKUs can belong to more than one Variation Parent.
