February Feature Releases

Published on February 14, 2013 by Linn Systems

We’ve developed some exciting features for our fellow customers this month, with three major ones being outlined below:

Meet an Advisor Screen - this uniquely designed feature has been incorporated into the system to highlight any potential problems that you, as a user, should be aware of.

The beauty of this feature is that it allows you to see your outstanding issues via so-called “warning messages” that will appear in the top left corner of the Linnworks screen.

More to that, this new functionality is also capable of fixing certain issues directly from the advisor screen this saving you time to raise a support ticket or contact our support department.

This is a first BETA release, so functionality-wise it’s far from being finished. Our priority is to seriously expand on it in upcoming months. Watch this space!

EKM Powershop Integration has now been released

We’ve seen hundreds of customers asking for it, and felt it was just the right time to deliver a full blown API integration with EKM Powershop cart.

You can now create coupons in the system which can be used for New Orders created directly in Linnworks as well as in EPOS.

Customise the discount value, type of discount (Gift Card, Percentage or Flat Value), valid items / categories and more.

Tamebay eCommerce Cup Post Report

Published on July 15, 2012 by Linn Systems

Genie and the Geek have been crowned first ever eCommerce Cup champions after a hard won final against brave runners up, MetaPack.

FC Linnworks went all the way to quarter-finals, where they were beaten 2-1 by future Cup holders.

group stage draw.png

The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four teams each. FC Linnworks were drawn in Group A alongside MetaPack, Royal Mail and Kurt Geiger. Royal Mail had to pull out from the competition and were replaced by “Mixed eCommerce” team, with iwoca’s aces Christoph and James being in charge of captaincy.

FC Linnworks arrived nice and early, leaving enough time to get changed and warm up. Linnworks also turned up with the largest team, 10 players for 5-a-side to demonstrate how serious they were about not running out of subs.

ecommerce_cup_02.pngThe weather conditions weren't looking promising. Thankfully though, the rain stopped just before the kick-off and held off for the rest of the tournament.

FC Linnworks kicked-off the tournament with the 2-1 win against Mixed eCommerce team in their opening match.

After beating Kurt Geiger in the second match and losing against MetaPack in the third, FC Linnworks had successfully secured a second-place spot to progress to the quarter final stage of the tournament.

The impressive Genie and the Geek side had also qualified, and with three wins out of three matches, they looked all but confident with their chances in the quarter final draw against FC Linnworks.

ecommerce_cup_06.pngBoth teams started off with a high tempo and were direct, trying to find their front men at the earliest opportunity. Opposition team made a wise move by setting up 3 against 3 and were rewarded for their efforts with a precise finish - 0:1.

Genie and the Geek side continued to have the edge, but the battling FC Linnworks stood firm and equalised when the long range shot was deflected off the post - 1:1. It looked although it was going to extra-time, before Genie and the Geek side broke through again and scored the winning goal to take them into the semi-finals - 1:2.

They then saw off a very physical Seko side before beating MetaPack in the final match of the tournament. The eCommerce Cup was awarded to champions by Chris Dawson, the man who founded Tamebay and played a major role in making this eCommerce Tournament happen.

Patrick Munden, Head of Seller Communications at eBay and Onur Bildik, Amazon’s UK Business Development Manager both turned up with spot prizes. They came up with their own criteria on how to rate individuals or teams, making this tournament a little bit more special.

Linnworks won the “Postage & Packaging / Best Dressed Player” award, one of four awards in eBay’s Detailed Soccer Ratings

As for the cup, it's already in Manchester where it will stay the year at Genie and the Geek’s office.

It was an absolutely fantastic event with a lot of entertainment and fun. Special "thank you" goes to organisers for managing the entire tournament in such a fashion. Until the next year!

London's eBay June Meetup Post Report

Published on June 21, 2012 by Linn Systems

It’s always good to see industry’s guys pulling together to discuss important topics such as benefits of multi-channel sales & inventory management systems, so thanks to everyone who attended eBay’s Meetup yesterday, hosted by iwoca.

The group was founded by Nathan O’Hanlon in 2008 and after a break has been restarted with Christoph Rieche, CEO of iwoca, committed to make this a regular event once again.

The meeting kicked off at 6:30pm at the Blue Anchor Pub in Hammersmith, which is known for its great views on Thames River and Hammersmith Bridge.

Chris Dawson, co-founder of Tamebay, started with an overview of how to choose a multi-channel provider and shared what the different vendors have to offer.

Then Artem Verovenko from Linnworks spent some time talking about the growth of eCommerce in UK and its contribution to UK’s GDP, stressing out the importance of becoming a multi-channel seller.

He explained, that this is a market requirement and not what once was an innovative approach. He then gave a quick live demo of Linnworks to give a better flavour of what can be achieved with a right solution in place.

The talking part of the event ended at 7:30PM, leaving enough time to network with other eBay sellers and colleagues.

A special thanks to Christoph, James and Alycia from iwoca (who also are our solution partners) for the beer and food which was most appreciated.

It was also a great pleasure to see John Pemberton (our existing customer who’s also the owner of GiveMeDesignerClothes shop), Andre Kruger (our solution partner and Director of eSellerSolutions), Andy Geldman (the owner of AuctionSoftwareReview web-site) and many others!

Last night’s event was truly a success, and we can’t wait to see you again at the next eBay Meetup! :)

Generic Website Integration

Published on March 06, 2012 by Linn Systems

The new Generic website integration module is released. The major improvements in the generic integration are - ease of deployment, features like Inventory Mapping, Shipping Service mapping and payment method mapping. We have also introduced multiple order notes, order item options and discounts in the scripts.

The new integration module also enables you to run extensive tests on the scripts and has an easy to use query editor to allow you to quickly and conveniently make changes to the existing generic scripts or develop your own.

Bespoke website integration is also very easy. The query designer tells you which columns the integration module requires in the query and even lets you run sample preview to ensure you are pulling and pushing the correct data.

Here are some of the website carts we already have generic integration scripts for: X-CART, Interspire, ZenCart, Opencart, Cubecart, osCommerce, creLoaded, Prestashop, Ubercart, Wordpress, Virtuemart, JSHOP, Eurocart, CSCart, ClickCartPro, ClickCart.

Scripting in Linnworks

Published on October 31, 2011 by Linn Systems

Scripting in Linnworks allows you to inject your own automation behaviour into the system. In another words you can write your own little programs which are executed during the synchronization. The script can amend an order, add new items, send emails, split orders, create Purchase orders automatically and many other things. The script is very much like a macro – an order script will run for every new or processed order on the system and gives you direct access to all properties of an order.

Scripts are designed to automate part of your business process, here just some of the things the order script can be used

  • Allocate shipping method to an order based on a set of rules or maybe a cheapest shipping service available for the destination.
  • Recalculate Unites States state tax for an order in a particular way.
  • Add automated notes to an order based on some conditions.
  • Allocate an order to a folder.
  • Allocate an order to a fulfilment center based on a set of conditions
  • Email an order to a drop shipper as a single email.
  • Split an order in a specific way – that is not supported by generic splitting functionality.
  • Add or remote certain items from an order

In addition to Order scripting you can have generic macro script which runs a batch job everytime you synchronize.

Here are some examples of what Macro Script can be used for

  • Email Feedback request to a customer after certain number of days since posting an order
  • Email personalized marketing material to previous customers asynchronously.
  • Export and Import orders to and from external systems.
  • Interfacing with external systems for whatever purpose.
  • Raise and email/submit purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Implement System notifications, i.e. send yourself an email of low stock, stock you need to reorder, late deliveries
  • Implement your own automated import routines from CSV, XML or a webservices.
  • Plugin custom channel integration module
  • Generally – any sort of automatic task

Amazon FBA and communication with Fulfilment and Drop ship

Published on September 19, 2011 by Linn Systems

One of the biggest showstoppers when an online merchant considers using fulfilment services by third party company is integration with the fulfilment company. Basically how on earth do you feed order information and keep track of your stock levels in the fulfilment warehouse. Of course many decent fulfilment centers will provide the merchant with some sort of backoffice system where you can enter order information and look at your stock levels, however it is rather manual process and stands useful up to a certain point.

The use of fulfilment services has been growing in the recent years. The costs of the service is falling, fulfilment centers become more efficient and smarter when it comes to storage, picking and shipping. And most importantly they take away the headache of actually fulfilling the orders.

We understand the need for seamless integration with fulfilment centers, so we now have a module that makes it possible. Amazon FBA integration is as simple as ticking a box. Integration with the fulfilment center itself is also simple – configure 3 flat files and you are done.

The automation module can raise new orders on Amazon FBA or a fulfilment center, keep track of existing order status, update shipping information and synchronize stock levels with the fulfilment warehouse and Fulfilment By Amazon.

Hitmeister.de is now added to the list of integrated marketplaces!

Published on September 06, 2011 by Linn Systems

Meet the new channel: Hitmeister.de

Hitmeister.de is a marketplace for media products and consumer electronics, where small and medium-sized sellers can integrate their shops to sell listed products to consumers, via all forms of online marketing.

The main benefit of Hitmeister is that it does not charge listings fees thus only relying on final-value fees.

Linnworks/Linnlive API has legs

Published on August 25, 2011 by Linn Systems

Linnworks has an API (Application Programming Interface). The API is available to Linnworks Anywhere Standard users or higher (and Entry for solution partner referred customers)

About API

The idea is to expose all the functionality available in Linnworks through API webservice, however it is a gradual process and will be developed based on requests we get for certain functionality to be exposed.

See LinnLive documentation

Full upto date WSDL is available as well.

We have sample test application in C# .Net 2.0 as well. PHP sample code will follow later this year.

How to get your API token

You can generate API token from your account management at https://acc.linnworks.com.

A token is not just a password that grants access to your system via API it is also a set of instructions for API server which includes set of permissions the application that is using a token can perform. For example a common use would be to expose the system to third party fulfillment warehouse and only expose orders with certain properties (i.s. assigned to a specific order folder or contains specific order items etc).

A token must be supplied with request. Token is like a password for the system so be careful who it give this token to.

Commerical applications

Amazon Unified Accounts are fully supported

Published on July 21, 2011 by Linn Systems

Amazon has introduced unified European accounts. This means that you can sell on all European marketplaces (UK, Germany, France and Italy) from a single seller central account. You should be able to switch between different marketplaces in your Amazon Seller Central account.

Linnworks has full support for unified Amazon accounts as long as you have switched to webservices. You can download orders from all accounts, update shipping information, update inventory levels and synchronize inventory across all marketplaces automatically, as well as list products and run Amazon repricing tool for all accounts.

For all intents and purposes Linnworks treats different marketplaces under the same unified account as different channels. This allows you to separate stock that goes to different marketplaces and identify which source a specific order came from.

Please see documentation on how to integrate different Amazon marketplaces in unified account.

Linnworks is ready for Amazon Italy

Published on July 19, 2011 by Linn Systems

Amazon has recently launched Amazon Italy site and opened the site for marketplace sellers. We have now tested Linnworks under Amazon Italy account and happy to confirm the integration with Amazon Italy works flawlessly.

Sellers can register their account and start listing products in the categories Consumer Electronics, Software & Video Games.

Adding Amazon Italy account to Linnworks is as simple as creating another integrated channel. The integration supports Order Management, Inventory Control, Stock updates, listing and repricing functionality.

And of course, Linnworks is awesome enough to deal with Amazon.it out-of-the-box.
